Heritage of Migrants in a National Museum

This article discusses the case of migrants’ heritage inclusion into mainstream through lens theoretical perspectives originating from both and migration studies fields. It presents a study event Jul på Polsk organised by Norwegian Folk Museum in years 2016–2018 compares it to findings focusing on individual engagement with Christmas Poles settled Norway. The aim is analyse various impacts institutionalisations minority heritage. These include, one hand, opening minorities giving agency shaping way their displayed broad audiences. On other these include selling heritage, creating deficit meaning relation upon institutionalisation an inevitable split between its institutionalised imageries, even if same people put force implementations. In final section, responsibilities museums regarding national memories as path for creation more inclusive futures.
